Dr. Edward J. DesJardins has over 15 years of patent law experience, and focuses his practice on patent procurement in biotechnology. Dr. DesJardins has represented clients in a wide range of technologies, including immunobiology and antibody technologies, cancer therapeutics, disease and viral diagnostics, agricultural crop improvement and genetic modification, isolation of novel genes and gene products, stem cell technologies and therapeutic transplantation, nucleic acid and protein microarrays, gene expression analysis, and viral vector development. Dr. DesJardins has experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications for large and small biotechnology and biomedical companies, pharmaceutical companies, academic and institutional clients.

Dr. DesJardins was previously an academic scientist with a research interest in the molecular and genetic basis of cancer. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry from Bowdoin College in 1986, and holds a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Cell Biology (1996). While at the University of Chicago, he received a Bristol-Meyers Oncology Division Young Investigator Award at the 1994 American Association of Cancer Research Annual Meeting. Dr. DesJardins was previously a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Colorado at Boulder in the Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology from 1996-1999, where he was a funded fellow of the Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program. Dr. DesJardins received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 2011, with a Certificate in Intellectual Property and Technology Law with Honors.

Dr. DesJardins is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Dr. DesJardins is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the San Francisco Intellectual Property Law Association and the Silicon Valley Intellectual Property Law Association.
