MICHAEL E. DERGOSITS - Partner
Michael E. Dergosits has experience in handling trials, trial preparation and counseling (including litigation avoidance) regarding patent matters and represents clients in a wide range of technologies including chemical and food
processing, diagnostics, microfluidics, computer hardware including disk drives, power supplies, memory and controller devices and displays, computer software, network architecture, video games and game platforms, semiconductor
fabrication equipment, consumer products and internet-related businesses.
Mr. Dergosits has extensive experience in counseling clients concerning potential claims of willful patent infringement including the preparation of formal opinions concerning patent non-infringement, invalidity and unenforceability. He has appeared before federal and state courts, arbitration panels and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on behalf of his clients.
Mr. Dergosits began his practice at Limbach & Limbach in 1984.
Mr. Dergosits was formerly the President of the San Francisco Patent and Trademark Law Association. Mr. Dergosits is currently a member of the Cyberspace Law Committee of the California State Bar. He is also a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association. He has been an adjunct professor of patent law at the University of San Francisco School of Law since 1993, and was honored as the Distinguished Adjunct Professor of the Year in 2005. He is a Past President of the Federal Circuit Bar Association, having served as a member of the Board of Governors for five years. He is currently a board member of the Federal Circuit Historical Society. Mr. Dergosits has also been a member of the San Francisco Bay Area Intellectual Property Inns of Court.
Mr. Dergosits is a member of the California bar and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
In 1979, he received his degree in chemical engineering from Cornell University. He graduated with honors from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1984.
